I feel it is inevitable that classrooms and learning will be affected more and more by technology as it becomes a major part of everyday life.  Therefore, it is my responsibility as an educator to be familiar with that technology.  This allows me to stay tuned with what my students are being exposed to and how methods of learning change.  How can we expect students to believe that literature is still relevant today if we cannot even teach it with relevant methods?  This blog enables me to carry on an academic discourse with other educators and pre-service teachers as we explore further concepts and issues within the educational realm.

I completely agree! Way to take responsibility for being in tune with being up to date with technology. I also like that you are wanting to use this blog as a way to collaborate with your peers, especially as you approach your first year of teaching.
One question that I have as I look at your blog is have you considered using blogs within your class as a means for allowing students to collaborate with each other, or are you wanting to use your blog strictly with your peer level?
I look forward to hearing more about your thoughts on both blogging and on education as well!

I think it is admirable that you are so determined to stay current with the latest technology. Though I think that most new technology can be wonderful and exciting for extending students’ learning experiences, I sometimes worry about over-extending myself as an educator. I can’t help but feel that it is more important for me to be current on the most pertinent new issues in education, rather than the latest technology. Plenty of school systems cannot even afford to supply the latest technology in their classrooms anyway. In a perfect world I would love to be an expert in everything for my students, but it is just not possible (at least not for me).
What strategies do you use for staying current with technology? Do you feel that these take time away from other important areas of research?

You have some good ideas about blogging, I think. I hope, though, that as you move further along in your career, you will not just see keeping up with technology as a responsibility. It is really is a lot of fun, too!
